Free Workshop on How to Harness Energy from the Wind

Florida’s coastline presents significant opportunity in growing field of wind energy

St. Augustine, FL – (July 20, 2011) – A special free workshop will offer residents, businesses and community leaders an opportunity to learn about the growing field of wind energy. The United States wind industry has added more than 35 percent of all new generating capacity in the past 4 years, second only to natural gas, and this trend is expected to continue growing.

Florida is an ideal candidate for wind energy, predominantly areas near the coast which offer enough wind to make a wind turbine economically feasible. In an excellent site, the cost of producing electricity with wind is cheaper than using a new coal plant. Additionally, wind energy is the cheapest source of electricity using renewable sources with zero emissions.

At the upcoming free workshop, attendees will learn about the basics of wind energy and the components of wind energy projects. Topics will include technology, cost of projects, incentives, cost of electricity produced and other project development considerations. The workshop is ideal for entrepreneurs, businesses, community leaders and residents, but everyone is encouraged to attend.
